SV Law Careers

Working at SV Law

Our team of paralegals work closely with our solicitors Mr Satnam Virdi and Johanna Williams. There is the opportunity for a very high amount of client contact, including attending meetings and taking witness statements from professionals. Our paralegals typically demonstrate a social conscience and an interest in public policy issues. We are looking for confident communicators (verbal and written) with good IT, research and analytical skills. Unusually, our more experienced paralegals are encouraged to advocate (with full support) at telephone hearings with Judges and even at the more routine substantive hearings before the SENDIST. The role can also suit those considering a career change to the legal profession, or those with legal experience in one area of law who would like to learn more about the education and disability sector.

Many of SV Law’s paralegals move on after a few years to work as barristers or solicitors in cutting edge human rights firms, magic circle law firms and leading public and commercial chambers (11KBW, 39 Essex Chambers, Atkin Chambers, Twenty Essex, Temple Garden Chambers, 2 Hare Court, One King's Bench Walk by way of example) as well as both High Court and Court of Appeal Judicial Assistantship placements. In recent months, SV Law paralegals have secured pupillages at Doughty Street Chambers, Field Court Chambers, XXIV Old Buildings and 4KBW.

What Our Alumni Say

Maia Cohen

Barrister at Temple Garden Chambers

"During my time at SV Law I worked on a wide range of SEND Tribunal Appeals, Judicial Review proceedings and discrimination claims. I particularly enjoyed acting pro-bono for parents as well as acting as a legal clerk to IRPs and providing local authorities, governors and IRP members with training on the topic. My time definitely held me in good stead for the demands of pupillage."

James Dix

Pupil Barrister at 2 Hare Court

“Working at SV Law gave me the opportunity to undertake both written and oral advocacy in the First-tier Tribunal, build client care skills, draft advices, and develop my litigation skills. I also supported with responding to judicial reviews, clerking Admissions Appeals, and training councils and schools up and down the country on all aspects of education law. It was this real world experience which made me a successful pupillage candidate”
